We had a good turn out to attend a talk by Neil Jones who is part of a team of volunteers currently restoring a Douglas C-47 Skytrain in Coventry and gave a detailed and interesting talk about the restoration process on this widely popular and celebrated military transport.

The C-47 that Neil and the team are working on (42-100521 Night Fright) originally flew locally, from RAF Membury in Berkshire. The aircraft was part of the US Army Air Force’s 79th Troop Carrier Squadron, 436th Troop Carrier Group and was involved in major operations including dropping paratroops during D-Day and Operation Market Garden and supply drops during the Battle of the Bulge along with repatriation of injured troops. The amount of research into the wartime operations and post war civil use was outstanding and the detail being put into restoring it back to exact WW2 specification is world class.

A big thank you to Neil for this excellent evening. We are looking forward to seeing her in the air later this year. See more at the website www.night-fright.com or follow them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TheNightFrightC47RestorationProject

They also have some merchandise on the website to boost funds for the work
