Swindon Model Aero Club flies from a secure private site near Shrivenham.

We share a large, bright, well appointed club house with Vale of White Horse gliding club with facilites including kitchen for tea & coffee, toilets and telephone.

The car parking is adjacent to the flying site with vehicle access to the pits to unload.

The grass runway is approx 220 meters long and is regularly mowed and rolled.

We run a dedicated weather station to provide live weather information direct from the airfield.

A webcam from the clubhouse lets members know if others are already on site and when they intend to depart.

The club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association and has BMFA approved flight instructors and examiners so we are able to provide tuition for your BMFA 'A' and 'B' proficiency certificates and then carry out the examination on our flying site so you feel comfortable with your surroundings.

The club Media Representative keeps members informed via regular email bulletins,  the SMAC Flyer newsletter and the News Panel on this website.

SMAC members are associate members of the Vale of White Horse gliding club and are able to have discounted full size glider flights.

Across the membership we have a wealth of knowledge covering building techniques, i.c and electric power and radio equipment so there is always someone to answer questions about model builds, engine and motor set up and radio installation.

We run annual social events for members including summer BBQ's, autumn Bring and Buy sales of modelling gear, and Winter modelling talks & demonstrations of various modelling skills.
